Bringing nearly 30 years of global leadership in executive roles with companies such as Herbalife and Amway, John Purdy Now Leads ViSalus and the Body By Vi 90 Day Health Challenge
LOS ANGELES, CA – February 16th, 2010 – ViSalus Sciences has added a direct selling industry veteran to its executive management team with the hiring of John B. Purdy as the company’s President and Chief Operating Officer.
Purdy most recently held leadership roles in a variety of capacities over a 13 year career at Herbalife, including Director of North American Operations, Senior Vice President of International Operations and Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific. He led Herbalife’s efforts in Japan, increasing sales of this leading market during a dramatic growth period from 1995-1999. As Senior Vice President of International Operations, he was responsible for the International Expansion Group which successfully opened markets in Europe and Asia.
In Purdy, ViSalus adds a seasoned executive who has risen through the ranks of two multi-billion-dollar companies. Purdy was instrumental in both maintaining the stability of mature markets as well as launching and growing new emerging markets.
Prior to his executive roles with Herbalife, Purdy was with Amway Corporation for more than 15 years, holding various management positions as he rose to senior manager of Amway’s California operations center.
Purdy will work primarily from the company’s Beverly Hills office, where his focus will be enhancing the Customer and Distributor experience and improving operational efficiency in not only ViSalus’ flagship health initiative, the Body By Vi Challenge, but in all aspects of the company.

The ViSalus Community will have its first opportunity to meet its new President and COO when Purdy is introduced at ViSalus Academy, the company’s national training event taking place March 12th-14th in Denver, Colorado.
In addition to valuable entrepreneurial education, ViSalus Academy will feature:
- The crowning of new Body by Vi Champions from over 997 contestants.
- The promotion of several Distributors to the company’s top earning position of Ambassador.
- Significant cash awards on stage as part of the company’s Rising Star Search promotion.
- The celebration of raising over 100,000 meal replacements for children in need through the Body by Vi Community Challenge, and the launch of a million meal challenge.

We’ve all heard that breakfast is the ‘most important meal of the day.’ Yet almost half of all Americans don’t eat breakfast each day! Of those that do eat breakfast, the nutrition tends to be high carbohydrate and low on key nutrients that can help you feel great all day.
Not eating breakfast can slow your metabolism. Just as you can’t ‘train’ a car to run without gas, we cannot train our body to run without fuel. By not eating breakfast (after having had dinner the night before), our body will have gone for 10-15 hours without ‘fuel.’ This can cause your metabolism to slow down, as the body tries to maintain weight, which can affect your ability to lose or maintain weight. Studies also show that those people who do eat breakfast tend to eat less throughout the day, and are on average thinner and healthier.
So we know that breakfast is important, but equally important is what type of “fuel’ you put in your body to start the day. The ‘average’ breakfast is heavy carbohydrate (cereal, pastries, and breads are 78% of all breakfasts), which can impact your blood sugar levels and leave you feeling sluggish or hungry. Congratulations 2009 Kickoff Campaign Cities!
ViSalus sure knows how to get a party started, don’t we???
ViSalus got January off to a rocking start with some huge new announcements like our new “Vi-Net & Training ESS,” Vi-Net Annual Beta Pricing Offer, and new Executive Product Packages. Some of these offers expire Saturday at midnight when the month closes, so act quickly!
Then, to keep the momentum going, our Founders hit the road for their 2009 Kickoff Campaign, a 9-city tour that brought this message to over 1,300 people in our top markets across the country, sharing simple strategies for how to earn more with ViSalus in 2009.

This event was a dream come true for me personally, to go back home to the south and make a positive change in that many people’s lives. I could not have hoped for a better day. The West Georgia and Alabama markets are very new yet we had about 100 people in the room! Whether a brand new distributor or an industry veteran, if you made it out to the Founders Kickoff Campaign, there is no way you left that event without learning a few things to explode your business in 2009.The intense training hosted by our CSO, Nick Sarnicola, was a powerful, real-world, get you outside-of-your-comfort-zone-forever style training. One of two things I heard as everyone left the event, “Wow!” or “Amazing!”
